$500 with held from final pay.

Miranda (Edmonton)

My employer (previous) has with held $500 of my final pay for "customer complaints" and "no notice" because I had to quit my paper routes due to my car breaking down and no longer running and not being able to afford a new one. There is a bad story of course but not sure if I should go into it now? I worked my butt off for the wages he is keeping. The customer complaints didn't happen until my car broke down so it's not like I was doing a poor service job.

Generally, deduction from wages is strictly prohibited under s.12 of the Employment Standards Code, even if the customer complaint resulted in financial loss for the employer.
