Relocation

Tyler (Edmonton)

Can a parent decide to relocate to another city (5 hours away) without a formal notice. I received a text message notifying intention to move from Redwater to Fort McMurray at the end of the school year stating that "when she moves, we can discuss alternate pickup and drop offs."

There is an existing parenting order where I receive the kids every other weekend after fighting for 50/50. The judge awareded her with the primary rights to the childs residence, however, there is a full shared responsibility still for school, medical, etc.

Is there a way for me to prevent the move before it happens even without receiving a formal Notice of Relocation and to force the issue into court before it becomes a bigger problem.

It should be noted that there is no room for mediation and the relationship between myself and the mother is not a healthy one. There is no history current or past of violence between either of us, simply a split up gone wrong and loss of respect.
