Grandparents rights.

Shane Lambert (grande prairie)

A year ago, my daughter abandoned her children and left them with their father during that time. I was not able to see the kids until the father and I came to his understanding and started to build a relationship of trust. We were able to do that for about 6 months. And he has now, without warning, without saying, a word move the children out of town and And a way I'm thinking to southern Alberta, I'm from grand prairie, and he will not answer his phone calls. He won't answer texts. He just said that he needed a change and he won't tell me where he is. And I haven't been able to speak to get in touch at at all.... i have had a very close relationship with the girls. Since they were born being in their life daily, supporting them, going to their school, taking them for weekends. I've taken them on trips, and this is only hurting them. There's been a lot of red flags that have popped up in the last 6 months or so that I'm concerned about, including him, not bringing the girls to school. He has kept them out of school. He hasn't worked since I August of last year. He I don't know how he's been making money or paying bills. I was giving them money for groceries. I've paid for their rent. I've thing Supported financially as much as I possibly could. The list goes on with red flags. Isolating. Becoming religious and fanatical.
Wanting to live off grid but having no money, so basically homeless in the woods. I'm worried, but I also want to know how to go about accessing grandparent rights.

You can start with the Alberta Family Resolution Hub to apply for contact with your grandchildren: https://www.alberta.ca/family-resolution-hub

Grandparents' rights are tricky, so it would be worth having at least a consult with a lawyer. Because lawyers need sufficient information to be able to provide an opinion, and to be able to ask you questions (which usually means at least a half-hour consultation), the lawyers here can only provide basic information and answer very general questions. Please contact a lawyer directly through the Search to seek assistance with your matter. Thank you for your understanding.
