I am interesting in obtaining legal advice regarding mismanagement of the rollout for applications for the RCIF fund. I have 40 years of seniority with AHS and learned about applications for this fund months after the applications were closed. At that time I started asking many questions about this fund and have pretty much learned the roll out through AHS and HSAA was extremely mishandled. I received absolutely no information about applications being open. HSAA tells me an email went out to members April 12 and AHS was to email out shortly after. My AHS manager tells me AHS decided not to send the information out. I shared this with HSAA and they were surprised. Most members only heard about this through word of mouth.RCIF refused to grant me a late application, said it was closed and only a small amount of people were approved. This is a fund of 11.4 million dollars. There is a retention bonus section and a signing bonus section. AHS managers were involved intimately with the signing bonus section but did not participate in the retention bonus unless an employee applied. Only at that time would they contact the employee to provide information for the application.The RCIF also told me I would not have been approved because it is based on seniority. I clarified my seniority date of Jan 2 1987. They advised they looked in the system and it is 2012. I have left the seniority date mess with my HSAA Labor relations officer to sort out. I am so steamed about all of this because so much of this is fishy. I would have been eligible for a very significant retention bonus. Now I am wondering what options are for recourse. A law suit? I have also contacted my local MLA and requested a Health minister ministerial review as well as Alberta Ombudsman. So far Alberta legal is the only organization that has acknowledged my correspondence. Please advise on recourse options. I am not tolerating the amount of intentional corruptive behaviour regarding this fund and feel the RCIF fund needs to be put on hold, reviewed, and properly rolled out to staff. Kindly give me some advice. I am willing to retain a lawyer to create a law suit if it is likely I can win with damages.
